SSBA RULES & REGULATIONS

LEAGUE INFO

  • Registration fees must be paid every season. Player Registration Fee – $30 Player/GM Registration Fee – $45. All fees are Non-Refundable.

  • We use PayPal as method of payment. If you need a different payment method one will be provided.

  • Each player has to commit to a primary POSITION. Guard, Forward, or Center. Can play with any build as long as you remain in your position.

  • There are 12 SSBA Branded teams. Every team will have a qualified GM to manage it. Every GM will go through an application process plus Orientation en route to the season.

  • Qualified General Managers will have the opportunity to be a Player/GM.

  • Player registration is capped at 300 to ensure that every registered player has a chance at a roster spot. Un-drafted Players will elect to enter the Development League Draft. Further, FA’s will have a chance to get picked up during the season.

  • The SSBA Draft will be a 6 round “Snake” Draft allowing every team to fill their roster up to 9 players (This includes player/GM).

  • Bench players are guaranteed at least 1 game per week. Bench players also have to be available for at least one game per week to receive pay.

  • There will be a draft lottery prior to the season randomly selecting the draft order for every team. Previous Champions will automatically receive the last pick in the draft.

  • Trade Deadline is April 13th, 2020.

  • GM’s will vote on trades. It requires a majority vote of 10 to veto a trade. If a trade is not vetoed by GM’s it goes to the commissioner’s office for approval.

  • Every team can retain 1 player, champions from previous season can retain 2 players. Each player that is retained will replace a draft pick in the 1st and 2nd round that you pick.

  • A player is only eligible for trade if they have played in or made themselves available to play in 60%+ of their team’s games. Being problematic to a team or refusing to play to get traded will get the player dropped, marked ineligible for the season, and potentially face up to a lifetime ban from SSBA.

  • Retain 1 player round 1 draft pick is forfeited, retain 2 players round 1 and 2 draft picks are forfeited.

  •  All regular season games will be scheduled games following SSBA format. Regular Season will consist of 30 scheduled games against league teams over 10 weeks. Top 16 teams will make the playoffs to play for prize money.

  • SCHEDULE: The SSBA official league week runs Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday. All other days are considered off days. Games are typically played between 6pm eastern and 12 am eastern, but can vary if both teams mutually agree. The weekly schedule is released on Friday morning with a scheduled time. The captain or GM is required to reach out to that week’s opposing captains by Saturday at 12 pm to begin discussing any changes in game times. Game times must be set 24 hours in advance and it is mandatory the league commissioner be informed of the scheduled game. If captains cannot BOTH agree on a game time change, then the game will be required to be played at the time set on schedule.

  • MATCHUP RULES and LATE POLICY: The captain or other team representative has to check in 10 minutes before game time. You are expected to be on time. If late: At scheduled game time, the captain must either say they have 5 or say they are looking for a qualified FA to spot start. If no contact has been made within 10 minutes after game time, it’s a forfeit. 20 additional minutes will be granted to find a FA if contact has been made. At 30 minutes after scheduled game time, the stream must be up showing 5 players in the arena or it’s a forfeit. NO PLAYERS ON EITHER TEAM WILL BE PAID FOR FORFEITED GAMES.

  • FA Spot Starts: If a player goes un-drafted but paid registration and met the 3 game minimum combine game requirement, they are eligible to be picked up as free agents. While the option is there for a GM to drop someone and add a FA with a full contract, this may only be a one-time need. So, the FA spot start is available. Only if a team does not have 5 players available at the scheduled game time, a GM may pick up a FA to spot start that game (FA stats will not be recorded). This is to ensure there is no excuse for inactivity and gives FA’s a chance to get picked up. If a player is utilized three times or more to spot start, the GM will be required to drop the inactive player and add a FA to the roster. All free agent spot starts will receive pay of $1 per game.

  • If a player is called up from the Development League to spot start he will receive spot start pay of $1 per game.

  • Prize money will be split between GM and players. Players will be paid based on the number of games played. If GM has hired a staff to work with them then they will be responsible for staff payout.

  • Everyone that participates in SSBA is required to download discord and create a username. Applications for GMs and Players require your discord username. Please visit https://discordapp.com/download to download Discord.

  • Participation in SSBA means a Player will abide by all Player Expectations below.

  • Participation in SSBA means a General Manager will abide by all General Manager Expectations below

SSBA General Manager (GM) Expectations

  • The General Manager must fill out the GM application, interview with SSBA staff, and if they choose to be a Player/GM pay the $45 fee.

  • General Managers are required to download the Discord app and create a username.

  • The General Manager (GM) will oversee all operations for assigned SSBA Franchise.

  • A GM can choose to be a Player/GM allowing them to be eligible to play in league games.

  • The GM may add (and is encouraged to add) support staff including head coaches, assistant coaches, scouts, content creators, etc. This is entirely up to your discretion. The GM’s role may be handed to a staff member as seen fit with commission approval. If the GM would like to fill all roles themselves, they are welcome too but high levels of activity are required to stay in the league.

  • The GM will be assigned a franchise Twitter account. You are expected to be interactive on Twitter. We will not interfere with the operation of your personal team Twitter.

  • The GM is expected to host open gyms during the combine (5 days and 10 Combine games minimum during the open gym period but the more the better). You should award a spot in the open gym on a first come first served basis. You should not have the same guys in your open gym every time. There will be an open gym discord chat. This is a great time to scout players. If you do not give people a chance in your open gym you will be removed from your position as a GM and no refund granted.

  • The GM is expected to extensively scout combine games.

  • The GM is expected to scout open gyms as much as possible.

  • The GM will be expected to draft a team that match based on skill, archetype, personality, and schedule.

  • The GM (or a designated staff member) must be present for all regular season and post-season games.

  • The GM will be expected to follow regular season league schedule and ensure that the team is ready to play all games on time.

  • The GM will be expected to assign a Team Captain. Team Captains must be a starter and will have to create the team’s court and keep the court for the duration of the season.

  • The GM is expected to play bench players a minimum of 6 games during the season.

  • A Player/GM can assign themselves as the Team Captain.

  • The GM is expected to ensure the team court looks presentable and has team logo on the center court as well SSBA logo on the court. Find it by searching for SSBA COMMISH on NBA 2K. Court must be majority wood. Color can be in the paint and apron.

  • The GM is expected to ensure that team jerseys are presentable. Home jerseys can only be white or light gray. Away jerseys can be any color except white or light gray. Team logo or Team Name must be on the front of all team jerseys.

  • The GM may drop players from the roster due to inactivity and pick up free agents. If you drop a player due to inactivity, they may not be picked up by another team.

  • The GM may drop players if they have become problematic to team and/or GM. That player may be replaced with an eligible Free Agent. Player will also not be eligible for pickup by any other team.

  • All roster adds/drops must be approved by the commissioner.

  • GM can MAKE UP TO 4 trades before the trade deadline in the regular season. Any trade after that is subject to a $10 fine. All trades are subject to GM vote.

  • All trades must fit the salary cap! If you don’t have enough cap space to trade a player it won’t be approved. Salary Cap is $10.50 for each team.

  • GM is responsible for trading only players that are trade eligible. If a player refuses to play in order to get traded they will be ineligible for trade. GM must contact Select commissioners to inform them of this infraction.

  • If a player requests a trade, and is trade eligible the GM must actively try to find that player a suitable trade. Player must still be played until a trade is found and the trade is approved. Players cannot be held hostage.

  • GM is expected to be respectful and treat every player fairly. Overwhelming evidence showing GMs disrespecting a player will result in removal from league with no refund.

  • At the end of the season the GM is expected to offer a key player an opportunity to be retained. The GM of the previous season Champions can offer 2 players an opportunity to be retained.

  • Every team that retains one player loses their 1st round pick in the upcoming draft. Every team that retains two players loses their 1st and 2nd round picks in the upcoming draft.

  • During the Off Season trades of retained players are allowed. A GM may trade one retained player for another.

  • Portion of the prize fund will be awarded to GM’s for winning the championship.

SSBA Player Expectations

  • Pay $30 application fee and fill out the player’s application.

  • Players are required to download the Discord app and create a username.

  • Registrations will be capped at 300. Ensuring you the highest chance of playing in either the SSBA Pro-Am League Or SSBA Development League.

  • Un-drafted Players: It’s important to note that if you go un-drafted it does not mean your season is over. Move forward into the SSBA Development League Draft for a chance in the Under league. Each SSBA team has a Development League affiliated team that runs the same schedule.

  • Play open gyms to help get noticed by general managers.

  • Players are required to be active during open gyms and potential interviews. A lack of open gym activity/responsiveness indicating the player is trying to go to a specific team may result in that player being marked ineligible to be drafted and no refund given.

  • Open gyms are likely to increase your chances of getting drafted. However, it is not mandatory you play them.

  • Ensure all open gyms and combine games are streamed and archived by someone on your team; and that those streams are posted on Twitter.

  • Combine: You must group up in the Discord chat and match up against other SSBA players. Every player is required to play a minimum of 10 Combine games with other SSBA players vs SSBA players. Submit ONE and ONLY ONE screen shot per game played. The winning team should submit the box scores. If a game is counted more than once, it WILL be deleted. It is up to you to make sure you actually played 10 games, do not rely on a duplicate game counting. The rest of the combine rules will be posted in the discord channel.

  • All Combine screenshots MUST be posted in appropriate Discord screenshot channel.

  • There will be an 6 round snake draft. If you are drafted by a team, report to the GM of that team in a timely manner.

  • You must play for the team you are drafted by, or you won’t play. Refusing to play for a team will result in removal from league. If you don’t like the situation you’re in play games and ask for a trade when trade window opens.

  • If you go inactive, a general manager will have the option to utilize a paid and registered free agent to replace you. If you get dropped for inactivity you will not be allowed to be picked up.

  • Three players from each team may be traded. To be trade eligible, a player must not be problematic and be active on current team. Any trades after the first three players can be completed with a $5 fee. This fee can be paid by player or GM.

  • Players are responsible for requesting trades. After a trade has been requested a player will continue to play for their current team. If a player refuses to play while waiting to be traded, their trade eligibility will be forfeited.

  • Players must report to their new GM via twitter and/or discord once trade has been approved.

  • Players are expected to be respectful of all players and GMs. Overwhelming evidence showing a player disrespecting a player and/or GM will result in removal from the league.

  • Every team will need to assign a player as the Team Captain. If you are assigned as the Team Captain you will have to create the team court/Uniforms and keep the team court for the duration of the season.

  • If your team wins prize money, you will be awarded prize money based on the number of games played. So being active is recommended.

  • Teams are allowed to retain one player after every season, the team that won the previous SSBA Championship can retain two players. If you are a player that is retained and you accept retention you will be locked to play for that team for the next season unless you are traded to another team for another retained player.

  • If you are a retained player traded to another team during the off season then you are required to play for that team.

SSBA Pro-Am League Rules

  • Use these rules as a guideline for teams to solve issues on your own before bringing any issues to the commissioner.

  • The rules contained herein are intended to be explanatory in nature. SSBA can not predict every case that may come up in advance. Additionally, unintended loopholes in the language may exist. If the technical language of a rule doesn’t fit with the intent of the rule, there’s a loophole, or other abusive behavior is occurring, SSBA reserves the right to amend and enforce any and all of its rules retroactively conforming to its intents and in the spirit of fair competition.

  • Any discrepancies in rules will be left to commissioner’s final ruling.

  • The SSBA commissioner’s ruling is final. By signing up for this league you accept any and all decisions the SSBA commissioner makes regardless of what this rule page states.

  • Teams will match up using Private Matchmaking. Ranked games will not be considered league games.

  • Only Private Matchmaking games found in the SSBA Discord server or otherwise agreed to will count as league games. Random ranked games will not count towards league record.

  • You must play on the court with your registered team name and logos. Every team name must have “SSBA” in the team name.

  • Solving server host disputes:

  • SSBA is an east server league. We will not enforce this in arrears. If you play the games you accept the result. If we are pressed for which server to play on, we will rule east server. However, we will be disappointed you asked. Load up and play the game.

  • Note central and eastern time zones are east server; mountain and western time zones are west server.

  • If a team can definitively prove beyond reasonable doubt it has all east server players in the lineup then they will be ruled to be the host of all games.

  • If both teams prove they have all east server players OR both teams have a west server player, the series will alternate hosts with the higher seeded team hosting first. If neither team provides proof then the series will also alternate.

  • If a player lags out before tip off it is an automatic restart. Quit the game and contact the opposing team to match up again.

  • The following rules apply ONLY to lag outs or other unforced 2K related errors. If you choose to quit out of a game in a tournament or playoff situation it may be a forfeit.

  • If a player lags out while winning and the entire rest of his team immediately quits, that will be a replay in the regular season. If any player on your team keeps playing after a teammate lags out before quitting it will be a loss. “Immediate” is defined as under 30 seconds.

  • During regular season, spreads will not be enforced. If a player lags out you must play it out. If a team is consistently having players lag out against them (indicating a time out glitch is being used), appropriate action will be taken, including possible expulsion from the league with no refund. This will ultimately be the commissioners decision.

  • It is recommended common sense is used. If a lag out occurs in the 1st quarter of a game and it’s not a 10+ point game, the game should be restarted and the game will not count. Ex: You are up 7-2 in the first quarter and someone lags out. That will not count. Ultimate decision on if a game counts is the commissioners.

  • SSBA values teams that work things out on their own and decide things on the court. Teams should not consistently try to get free wins or try to exploit the rules to get a restart. Remember, these players and teams develop a poor reputation in the competitive community over time. If you are really Comp, you don’t do these things. The SSBA commissioner reserves any and all rights to make a unilateral decision on if a regular season game result counts after being presented with the evidence.

  • During the playoffs or during tournaments, if a lag out occurs you may be required to restart the game and play the time remaining with the same score differential at the time of the lag out.

  • Example: Team A is up 78-70 with the ball on Team B with four minutes remaining. Team B lags out. Team A and B must play the first four minutes of a new game, with Team A winning the tip and given a +8 advantage. (Round to nearest minute).

  • Do not count points to the spread that occur after the first player has quit/lagged out.

  • The team with a lag out must immediately quit as described above for this rule to apply.

  • This rule applies to the time out glitch and all lag outs. If a team is suspected to be repeatedly abusing this rule, SSBA reserves the right to not grant that team spreads and disqualify them. Final decision is commissioners. Teams are strongly encouraged to work it out themselves.

  • All games must be streamed on the registered Twitch or Mixer account(s). All games must be archived in case admins have to review video.

  • Every team must have a representative for their team in the league’s Captain Chat. The Captain Chat will be on Discord

  • The burden of proof for rules violations lies with the captains (video, audio, time stamped screen shots). SSBA is not required to track down proof itself and will not take a captain’s word for it.

  • 1st violation of above rules will result in a warning or forfeit. The 2nd violation will result in removal from the league NO REFUND will be given.
